- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆How is anyone who works a normal 9-5 job supposed to be able to utilize the post office here in independence? Every single other post office is open untill atleast 5 or 6, most ones in cedar rapids and waterloo are open unroll 8-10pm. I have never been able to use this post office even though it is right next to my house. I always go to the next town over. I ship almost every week as I work from home selling my art so if whoever is running the independence post office would like a lot more business then they should extend their hours more. Untill then I frankly hate this place and who ever is in charge.By Layne Allen, December 10, 2016
